We spoke with tepeoPRO installers M4RT Heating & Ventilation to find out what it’s really like working with the ZEB and partnering with tepeo.
With over 30 years of experience in the industry, Martin (along with his son), give their experience of adding the ZEB heat battery boiler to his arsenal and what it’s been like to partner with tepeo.
When did you decide to explore low carbon heating?
“There is definitely a change in the market. People are considering being eco-friendly, they’re looking at different types of heat source… so we’re basically moving with the market.”
How have you found the transition?
“Good! Better than I thought it would be. There seems to be a lot more core than I thought there would be. You do feel people are a bit considered now that they think the gas boiler might be on its way out. So they’re obviously looking at other options so yeah, it’s good.”
How does installation compare to gas?
“No difference. Exactly the same boiler. A boiler is a boiler they’re all exactly the same,”
How did you hear about tepeo and the ZEB?
“It was something that was brought to our attention by a close friend. We looked into it and tried one [a ZEB] and we were quite impressed, to be honest. It was not what I was expecting, to be honest.”
“For what it is, it’s wildly simple. And from what you learn in college, going straight out into the jobs in the actual market, it’s very easy to integrate it into what you learned in college and understand, which helps you when explaining it to customers and doing a good job of installing it.”
What are the benefits of joining the tepeoPRO programme?
“So obviously you need to be a tepeoPRO to fit them [the ZEB]. They give you the training you need and obviously the backup when you need it.”
What’s it like working with the tepeo team?
“Really smooth. Helpful. If I’ve got a query or anything, they’re on the phone – yeah, really good.”
What would you say to those thinking about becoming a tepeoPRO?
“Definitely give it a go. Definitely. If you’re fitting boilers, then add this to your arsenal.”
How many ZEBs has m4rt installed?
“I guess 30 odd, maybe 30-35, I sort of lost count after about 25/26… So, I don’t know, I think we’re even getting closer to 40.”
How do your customers feel about the ZEB?
“I think the customers knew a lot about the ZEB, I think they’d looked into it. Certainly the first 10-15 had looked into the ZEB and thought ‘let’s give this a go’. I think they, like us, assume it’s going to be something different and it isn’t. And once you put it in, and once you fire it up, it’s just like a normal boiler. No difference whatsoever – and they’re surprised and they love it.”
