BBC News explores the need for more choice in low-carbon home heating

tepeo CEO and founder Johan du Plessis has been featured in a BBC News article exploring the UK’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme, heat pump incentives and the need for a broader range of low-carbon heating options.

The article looks at the challenges some homeowners face when moving away from fossil fuel heating, including cost, disruption and property suitability. It also highlights tepeo’s heat battery boiler as one of the technologies offering another route for homes where a heat pump may not be the right fit.

Speaking to BBC News, Johan said it was “very one-dimensional” to try to apply a single technology to all homes, adding that “every single home in this country is different” and that people need a range of options to decarbonise and electrify their heating.

At tepeo, we believe heat pumps will play an important role in the UK’s transition to low-carbon heating. But no single technology will be right for every property. Heat battery boilers can give suitable homes another practical option: familiar central heating, powered by smart electricity, without burning fossil fuels in the home.
