20th May 2026 — British clean tech manufacturer tepeo recently welcomed Damian Hinds MP to an East Hampshire property to demonstrate its ZEB® (Zero Emission Boiler) technology in action, highlighting a practical, low-carbon alternative to traditional fossil fuel heating.
During the visit, the East Hampshire MP met with a local homeowner who recently replaced an old gas boiler with a tepeo heat battery boiler. The ZEB charges using cheaper, greener off-peak electricity and stores the energy to deliver heat exactly when the home needs it. The constituent shared their firsthand experience with the installation, noting how straightforward the system is to live with and the immediate, positive impact it has had on their heating costs and reliability.
tepeo CEO Johan du Plessis joined the visit to discuss the critical role of thermal storage in the UK’s energy transition. The visit provided an opportunity to demonstrate how tepeo’s heat batteries offer a flexible, highly effective solution for properties across the country, particularly for homes where other low-carbon heating technologies may be too difficult, disruptive, or expensive to install.
Speaking after the visit to see the tepeo ZEB in action, Damian Hinds MP said:
“Heat batteries look like they can be a significant part of the future home energy landscape. There is no substitute for seeing new things first hand and I was grateful for the opportunity to find out more about heat batteries and the role they play, especially for those homes that cannot, for various reasons, have a heat pump. It’s always encouraging to see innovation in this area, when it has the potential to reduce energy use and cut emissions.
I will continue to push for sensible policies that support households making these upgrades and back British clean tech manufacturing.”
The homeowner expressed that they were pleased to show their local MP how well the system has performed, hoping their success story will give other homeowners in the area the confidence to explore low-carbon, smart heating options.
The successful visit highlights the rapidly growing role that British-made thermal storage technologies, like the tepeo ZEB, play in improving the UK’s energy security, maximising the use of renewable electricity on the grid, and supporting a cost-effective transition away from fossil fuels.
