What is a heat battery boiler?

A heat battery boiler is an electric heating system that stores energy as heat, ready to use when your home needs it.

The tepeo ZEB uses electricity to heat a high-density ceramic core. Smart Charging works out when and how much to charge based on your heating needs, the weather and your electricity tariff, helping make use of cheaper off-peak electricity.

When your home needs heating, that stored heat is delivered through your existing radiators or underfloor heating – giving you the familiar central heating experience you’re used to.

How much does a tepeo heat battery boiler cost?

The ZEB has a retail price of £6,000. Customers can currently get £2,500 off through tepeo’s Early Grant Match, reducing the product price to £3,500.

Installation is priced separately because every home and heating system is different. Once your home has been assessed, you’ll receive a clear quote covering the ZEB and the work needed for your installation. Finance options may also be available for eligible customers who would prefer to spread the cost.

How quickly can a ZEB be installed?

A ZEB can often be installed in around 1-2 days, although the exact timescale depends on your home and any additional work required.

It’s designed as a lower-disruption boiler replacement and can often use suitable existing radiators and pipework.

Can a ZEB replace my gas, oil or LPG boiler?

Yes, in a suitable home the ZEB can replace the central-heating function of gas, oil or LPG.

It works with wet central heating, including suitable radiators and underfloor heating, so you can move away from fossil fuel heating while keeping a familiar way of heating your home.

What happens to my hot water if I currently have a combi boiler?

The ZEB provides central heating, so if your current combi boiler also provides your hot water, you’ll normally need a separate hot water solution.

Depending on your home, this could be a traditional hot-water cylinder, a smart cylinder or a compact heat battery solution. Your tepeoPRO installer can help you understand which option would work best for your home.

What guarantee does the ZEB come with?

The ZEB comes with up to a 10-year guarantee, giving you long-term reassurance after making the switch.

Regular servicing and maintenance requirements may apply to maintain your guarantee, so I’d link from this answer to the full guarantee/Care Plan information rather than trying to include all of the terms in the accordion.

How do I know if a ZEB will work in my home?

What electricity tariff works best with a ZEB?

The ZEB can work on a standard electricity tariff, but it’s designed to make the most of time-of-use tariffs that offer cheaper electricity at certain times of day.

Smart Charging uses your tariff, heating needs and local weather to plan when and how much to charge, helping shift more of your heating electricity into lower-cost periods.
